INCLUSION POLICY

At The HAWCS Athletics Club everyone is welcome. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone is treated equally and has the same opportunities as everyone else. We are committed to complying with the Equality Act 2010.
The purpose of this policy is to share our commitments and responsibilities as a Club.
Our commitments - we will:

Not unlawfully discriminate on the grounds of race, religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, colour, nationality, gender, gender reassignment, sexual oreinatation, age, disability, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity or personal belief/ opinions - these are all ‘protected characteristics’ under the 2010 Equality Act.

Maintain a good harmonious environment in which no one feels under threat or intimidation because of their protected characteristic(s.)

Guide and support the integration of inclusive practice into core club/group programmes and activities.

Provide support and guidance to athletes, leaders/coaches, officials, competition organisers and other club volunteers to promote the development of inclusive practice and to enhance participation.

Promote the development of knowledge and understanding equity and inclusion amongst athletes, leaders/coaches, officials, club volunteers and competition organisers by the provision of appropriate training and development.

Promote the inclusion of disabled athletes in athletics events. We will demonstrate that every effort has been made to enable disabled people to participate.

Make reasonable adjustments to training, events and any other activity so that they are accessible to everyone.
Our responsibilities:

Everyone at HAWCS is responsible for supporting this policy and promoting a culture of fairness and equal treatment. We’re all accountable for making sure that our club and its processes don’t discriminate against any individual. If you feel that something or someone is discriminating, then you must report it to the Club Secretary, and where the matter relates to the Secretary, then it must be submitted to the Welfare Officer.
